NEW YORK — Today, on Tax Day and nearly one week after the Supreme Court issued its decisions in two cases related to Trump’s financial records, Stand Up America Founder and President Sean Eldridge issued the follow statements:

“Despite his dangerous rhetoric and unprecedented corruption, Donald Trump is not above the law. While he might have broken his campaign promise and decades of precedent when he refused to release his tax returns, the American people still deserve transparency and accountability from the president.

“From the little we have seen of Trump’s financial records, he has avoided paying taxes for years, engaged in fraudulent schemes to hide his family’s assets, and profited off the presidency. That kind of corruption has no place in the Oval Office.

“Congressional and criminal investigators must continue the fight to ensure that the public gets answers about Trump’s blatant corruption and conflicts of interest—not only while he remains in office, but also after we vote him out this fall.

“As we’ve said each Tax Day since he was elected, if Donald Trump has nothing to hide, then today is as good a day as any for him to release his tax returns.”

For three years, Stand Up America has worked to force the public release of Trump’s tax returns, from helping organize the Tax March in cities across the country to pressuring congressional investigators to request their release. Stand Up America has also endorsed legislation like H.R.1, which requires every candidate for president and vice president to publicly release their finances.
