In the first three days after flipping the Senate, Democratic senators have introduced sweeping anti-corruption legislation that would build our democracy back better and root out the corruption that still stains Washington after four years of Donald Trump in office. We applaud Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and the Democratic caucus for prioritizing this critical legislation at the start of the new Congress.
Under the leadership of the Biden-Harris administration and with a Democratic Congress, we have a tremendous opportunity to undo some of the damage done by the Roberts Court by passing the For The People Act (H.R. 1, S. 1).
With new leadership in the White House and Senate, we now have an historic opportunity to enact the structural reforms needed to build our democracy back better. It’s time to break down the barriers to progress that have blocked action for decades on everything from climate action and gun safety to economic inequality.
